Have you ever felt guilty when you see a beggar asking for money, and yet you didn't provide any? I have and I would still ask GOD if I did the right thing or not. And this is what he gave me...
"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
Throwing money into the panhandler’s cup means leading them more to a sluggish lifestyle and teaching them to be more irresponsible citizens. I see beggars who are still able to work, both men and women, and yet they’re begging. Their physique is even stronger and bigger than mine but they simply want to beg. What I really don't like is that they even use their children to gain empathy and compassion from people.
If you are really in need, you'd look for a job no matter how hard it is (as long as it’s legal) just to be able to feed yourself and your family. But these beggars seem so complacent because there are still those who tolerate them.
Money is not actually their problem; it essentially adds to their dilemma. What they need is a change in attitude towards life – how to handle them with productivity and use GOD’s resources appropriately.
Giving them money is like:
Providing money for food, clothes and shelter to an unemployed adult son.
Regularly bailing out a delinquent child who never changes.
Supporting a husband who never has the intentions of getting and keeping a job.
Giving your wife everything that she needs and wants, and still wasting more money on insignificant items.
Buying expensive stuff for your kid who never wants to finish school.
It is Biblical!!! Those who refuse to work should not be fed!
